FAQ
- Foot mount (cylinder bolts to a flat surface via foot brackets), flange mount (bolt circle on the cap end or rod end), clevis mount (pin joint that lets the cylinder pivot), trunnion mount (pivot bearings on the body), and side lug or side tap (bolts directly through the cylinder body). NFPA cylinders come with all of these as standard configurable options.
- Driven by load direction and motion. If the load moves in a straight line with no rotation, use foot or flange mount with rigid alignment. If the load arcs (a swinging arm, a press linkage), use clevis or trunnion so the cylinder can pivot as the load moves. For side-loaded applications, foot mount with a guided rod attachment handles it best. Get the mounting wrong and you'll bend rods and tear up seals.
