FAQ
- PTFE handles moderate temperatures and is the default for general steam service. EPDM is formulated for hot water and low-pressure steam. Metal seats handle high-pressure or superheated steam where elastomers would scorch. Get the seat wrong and the valve leaks within weeks.
- Most industrial steam solenoid valves are rated for saturated steam up to 350°F at 150 psi. High-temperature designs reach 400°F and above. Always confirm the body, seat, and coil insulation class for the actual service - saturated steam tables tell you the temperature that goes with your pressure. Safety note: do not operate a steam valve above its pressure-temperature rating; failure can result in steam release and burns.
