FAQ
- A pilot solenoid valve uses process pressure to operate a larger main valve. The small coil opens a tiny pilot port, which lets line pressure shift a piston or diaphragm that does the actual work. It's how you get a 2-inch valve operated by a 5-watt coil.
- Most pilot-operated valves need 5 to 10 psi of differential between inlet and outlet to lift the main element. If your application can drop below that, vented tanks, gravity drains, dead-headed lines, pilot won't work and you need a direct-acting valve instead.
