FAQ
- A pressure snubber dampens fast pressure pulses before they reach the gauge. Two main types: a porous metal disc that slows flow through a tortuous path, or a piston that moves against a small orifice. Either way, the gauge sees a smoothed pressure signal instead of the raw pulse train. Without a snubber, gauges on pump discharges and pulsating lines last weeks; with one they last years.
- Porous-metal snubbers use a sintered disc that filters out pulses through millions of tiny passages. Simple, no moving parts, but they plug with dirt and need clean fluid. Piston snubbers use a small piston in a chamber with an adjustable orifice. They handle dirtier fluids and you can tune the damping by adjusting the orifice. Porous for clean service, piston for dirty or where you need adjustability.
